The purpose of life skills is to give each individual the ability for positive adaptive behaviour that enables them to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Life skills may very well enable an individual to avoid major pitfalls but most importantly, they equip one with the necessary tools to be able to learn from those pitfalls.
This pillar represents a vast range of skills required for holistic development, from psychosocial and introspective skills, such as problem-solving and critical thinking, to interpersonal skills such as self-awareness and mindfulness. Consistent practice of these skills will lead to qualities such as healthy self-esteem, effective sociability, tolerance as well as action competencies, which is the ability to take action and effect change.In addition, our coursework promotes health and wellness, as well as the development of skills such as arts & crafts and basic money management skills, which impact the ability to earn a living. The depth and scope of these programs is determined and tailored for each respective school and/or community.
